Equisetum Arvense - Fam. Equisetaceae
The drug consists of steryl stems. The whole plant is rich in silica which gives the horsetail powder deep skin-cleansing properties exerting a “peeling” effect. Applications of the plant concern its mineralizing property, favorable to promote calcium bone deposition besides reinforcing fragile nails and hair.
The large amount of mineral substances would also confer a diuretic action.
