Birch sap is derived every spring from carving Betula pendula and Betula verrucosa trees in millenarian forests. The Chaga mushroom, Inotus obliquus, is a saprophyte that grows on the trunk of the birch itself, from which it is harvested by hand.

This drink is made in Northern Finland according to rules of ancient heritage, joining two types of plants: the Chaga mushroom and Birch sap. The Nobel Prize Aleksandr Isaevič Solženicyn describes the efficacy of Chaga decoction, which he used to drink multiple times a day.

“He could not imagine a greater joy than finally being able to walk for months through the woods, picking up this Chaga from the log, crumbling it, boiling it on a portable burner, drinking it and feeling better than an animal. Being able to walk for months in the forest, knowing there is no other remedy than feeling better!”

(Aleksandr Isaevič Solženicyn, “Cancer Ward”, 1967).
